Man Killed in Carmichael Home

A suspect is in custody this morning in connection with a brutal attack that claimed the life of a man late yesterday evening. Kenneth Azlin, 26, was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail earlier this morning on a charge of murder. He is being held without bail.

Just before 11:00 p.m. last night, Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a home in the 6200 block of Coyle Avenue regarding the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, deputies found that a resident of the home, a 65 year-old male, had sustained significant trauma consistent with sharp force and blunt force trauma. Paramedics arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased of his injuries.

Witnesses at the scene reported that Azlin, who is a relative of the victim’s wife, was responsible for the attack and that he had left the residence on foot shortly before deputies’ arrival. A description of the suspect was provided, and a perimeter search was conducted in the neighborhood with the assistance of K9 units and air support.

Within minutes, Azlin was located on the campus of a nearby elementary school, and taken into custody without incident. A search of the campus led to the recovery of a weapon believed to be used in the attack on the victim. The motive for this crime is currently being investigated, and there are no outstanding suspects associated with this incident.

Identification of the victim in this case will be provided by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office, after notification has been made to his next of kin.
