Creek Week is coming up!!
Isn't this sunshine just beautiful lately? I know Matt and I have been enjoying the yard and have had our hands in the gardening beds, digging and planting away. Creek Week is coming up on April 12th and it's a wonderful time for us to get out into the park, do some clean up (clearing weeds, picking up trash), and then head to Carmichael Park at noon for a wonderful BBQ and some fun activities for the kids. Let's meet at 9 a.m. at the service entrance to Jan Park, and get our small tributary of Arcade Creek all cleaned up for Creek Week 2014!
Bring gloves, a hat, water, and make sure to have some sunscreen on. We'll have a service table available for extra water and if anyone would like to share some snacks for all our great volunteers. We'd also appreciate anyone who can bring along some gardening tools (rakes, trowels, shovels) and we'll have large garbage bags available for collecting trash.
Thanks so much for helping keep our beautiful park clean and well taken care of!

Carmichael Water District wants to hear from its members
Are you concerned with rate increases and fee hikes that may effect us in this region for water use, and how water meters will be read? This is a great opportunity to participate in a citizen panel to help consider future water district rates for homeowners in this region-you can make a difference! Please consider signing up for their citizen panel, and be part of the changes coming up for water usage needs here in Carmichael.

Don't forget-Sheriff's Community Meeting Tuesday night at Del Campo High-Library
Greetings everyone!
Just wanted to remind you that there is a meeting on March 18th with our local Sheriff and CHP POP officers at Del Campo High's library at 6:00 p.m. This is the best place to let our local law enforcement know about the problems you are facing in your neighborhood, get questions, answered, and find out about new information pertinent to public safety. Please consider attending, and if you'd like to offer notes for us to post here on the blog, we'd really appreciate it so that others unable to attend can get the scoop :) Please contact Carmen or Olivia if you would be willing to provide some notes for us to share with others.

Help needed on Sunday the 16th-New Message Board for Jan Park!
The BHNA President, Robyn Yankie, has a request for all of us in the neighborhood to help put up a message board for local community use in the park thatcher husband has so thoughtfully made. The board will be placed at the main entrance to the park at Slate and Jan, and they could use some help with transport and setting it up. If anyone would be kind enough to be able to help, please meet up at their home at 4524 Marble Way. They'll also need a few folks able to hang out while the cement drys, which is a great excuse for a little socializing fun :) Thanks so much!
Neighborhood recent break-in attempts reported
A house in front of Jan Park was targeted for a break in attempt in the middle of the day on 3/11/2014. Some sort of ramming device was used, but thankfully, the front door held. We've also had reports locally of a car break in on Lincoln near Stollwood at the beginning of this month.
Please make sure to report all activity like this, even attempts, to the Sac Sheriff's Dept. so they know what is going in the neighborhood, and watch out for your neighbors. We're all here together to work on safety and comfort in our homes :)

Dear Friends
The Sheriff’s Community Impact Program (SCIP) works to lessen negative influences facing many youth in the Arden Arcade community so as to avoid juvenile delinquency and gang involvement. You can help the cause – and have fun playing poker – by participating in the Arden Arcade Rotary Club’s upcoming “Horsepower and Hold’em” Poker Tournament on Saturday, March 15.
For a donation of $150 you get the chance to be a winner and have a seat at the table playing poker in the exciting venue of the California Auto Museum. The big payout, however, goes to the students at Greer Elementary School, Edison Elementary School and Encina 6-12 Prep High School who are involved in SCIP which will benefit from the tournament’s proceeds. SCIP provides traditional police activities league programs as well as educational opportunities by working hand-in-hand with school administrators and other community based organizations. SCIP members include retired and active law enforcement personnel, school administrators, business and community members.
For more information about the tournament and how you can help counter juvenile delinquency, please visit the SCIP website.
Sincerely,
SUSAN PETERS
Supervisor, Third District
